It almost 13 days left for me to complete my internship program here at Sime Darby. Today, early in the morning I have been told that I have to go back to Sime Darby Convention Centre and KLGCC to setup the new domain server that have been installed yesterday. Before I went there, I have to complete my task first. My task is to delivering the new notebook that have been setup last 2 days. After finished delivering the notebook, I have to get ready to setup the new domain. I have to bring trolley in case there is something heavy to carry.
About 10.30am, me and my senior staff is on our way.The first destination is Sime Darby Convention Centre. After a few adjustment and configuration, we manage to complete the task and without wasting anytime, we went to KLGCC. After finished at KLGCC, we went to Wisma Gutrie to installed a new domain also. We kind a rush hour because we have to complete install before Friday's prayer. With the major of skills we manage to complete in time.
After Friday's prayer, we went back to Head Office. There is a lot of case that evening. So, I have been given a few cases to attend. I manage to complete it in time and after that, I have been thought a new software that need to be install to all Senior Manager notebook. After a few lesson, I can installed it by myself. There is a lot of new things I learned today and it is very interesting and challenging. Hope there is more for next week.

Day 22

It is a different day today. At early in the morning, I was directed to setup 3 new notebook for a new user. After finished installing all the software needed, I have to ensure that the user ID has been created by the server.
After lunch, I have been given a task to installed a new domain server at Sime Darby Convention Centre and Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club (KLGCC). Both are located at Damansara. So I went there with one of the senior staff. We drove there and we supposed to installed 3 new domain server but because of the bad weather, we have to postpone one of the 3. So we manage to installed only 2 new domain server and decided to continued install the other one tomorrow.
Basically today task is quite different from the other day and day by day, I started to like my job even more because everyday I learn a new things.

21st Day

At the morning, I have to repair a CPU that belongs to one of the staff. I have detected the error and fixed it. Before lunch hour, I manage to delivered back the CPU to the staff.
After lunch, I have to disposed all the old PC at 17th floor and bring it to the store. It takes me half an hour to complete the task because the PC quite a lot in number.
Furthermore, after completing the disposal task, I followed one of my team mate to the other department to install a communication software.
About 4.00pm, I went back to the office and get ready to setup and configure 3 new notebook. I manage to setup only 1 notebook and planned to continued the other 2 tomorrow morning.

Today is Hari Raya Aidiladha second day. And today I'm not attended to office because I got an MC from doctor. Food poisoning is the reason why. Because of Hari Raya, I eat a lot of mix food and resulting a food poisoning. I have inform my site supervisor that i can't attend to work today.

When I arrived at my office around 8.15am, I saw a couple of boxes at my cube. Then I saw the Purchase Order form. It stated that inside the boxes is a notebook that need to be setup and configure before delivering it to the user. So without wasting any time, I start to configure them.
After that I went to the other department that need to configure last 4 PC. Before friday prayer, I have done configure them. After friday prayer, I have to repair a CPU and after a few a temp, finally I have done repairing it.

At the morning, I have to format a PC because it keeps hanging and slow. After a few software installation, the PC is "new" again.
After finished formatting the PC, I went back to the other department to configure the new PC. As a record, I have done configured six PC just for today!.
When lunch hour is over, I have to disposed all the old PC and put it in the store. It's quite a lot and I finally done it.

I have to install the anti - virus, the software needed for the department and also swap the old PC to the new one.

Today is different from the other day because today my Academic Supervisor, Puan Amnah is coming to visit me at the office. About 10.30am in the morning, she has arrived. I and my friend, Nur Liyana who also do the internship course at Sime Darby, take her for a tour to our department lounge.
I have prepared a discussion room for Puan Amnah and my supervisor to have a meeting session. It has been a good meeting and my supervisor gave 100% support. After half an hour, we have ended our meeting. Before Puan Amnah leaving, she briefly explain about our report and about what should we do.
After lunch hour, I have been given a task from my supervisor to checked a hardware error for a few PC. After inspection, I have found that the error is the Power Supply itself. So, I have to changed the power supply. Basically, I concentrate finishing the task given.

It has been 3 weeks I'm doing my internship at Sime Darby. Today is the new month. Sweet December.
In the morning, i have to delivered all the six notebook that have been configure last week.
After delivering the notebook, I have to installed a new notebook battery for one of the staff.
The next task is to setup a wireless connection for one of the employee and also his printer.
After lunch, I have to analyze a PC that have been reported hang and legging. So after a few inspection, I manage to overcome the problem.

There are many Drivers and Utilities CD's that need to be arrange because there are many version of notebook.
Not just arrange the CD's, but also try to recognize the CD's version and this will help to setup and configure a notebook at the future.
That is the only task that have been given to me today.

Today, all the virus case has been solved. Server has pushed the Windows Update and update for Anti-Virus.
My case for today is to analyze a hardware failure towards the staff's PC. I have found the error. The error is the hard disk itself. So I have to transfer all the backup data into the new hard disk and installed all the software needed.
About 5.00pm, I have to installed an anti-virus for one of the new staff.

Today as a routine job, I have to complete 3 cases at the morning and it has been done.
At 4.00pm, I have to go to the Group Risk Management Department to installed an ATI Graphics Card to 12 CPU's.
But at 5.00pm, I have to postpone the graphic card installation because there was a failure and error of PC's at the other department.

Today is my second day working at Sime Darby. Today task is more challenging than yesterday but it is more relaxing.
At 9.00am in the morning, I have to syncronize the domain for all CPU at Marketing Deparment.
About 2.00pm, we received a fax that tell us about the upcoming software that should be install to all PC's. I learn how to operate it and apply it to the other staff's PC.
And before i forget, this morning, I just received my Staff Access Card.

2) Installing Lotus Notes 8 and learn how to operate it.
3) Installing Adobe Reader for a new PC and notebook.
4) Delivering the notebook to the user after completing the installation.
